Karin Kliewer and Greg Roberts are modern-day urban homesteaders in Kitchener, Ontario! On 1/3rd of an acre they attempt and are successful at growing most of their own food needs!

They joined the Grand House Cooperative for an excellent morning workshop on urban agriculture. Participants learned about various techniques for growing food in the city, including intensive agriculture, the different style of urban gardening, including rooftop gardens, turning your lawn into veggies, and composting and building up the soil. The workshop was an engaged discussion on the techniques and methods used for growing healthy food in the city.

The second part of the workshop involved planting a seedling tray and building a raised bed, to be used in a community garden at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture.
